- The full intensity of any experience is felt just as it is about to conclude. The climax and most sanctified time of Yom Kippur is during Ne’ilah-the closing prayer. It is during this time, as the sun sets on a day of prayer and introspection, that the spiritual energy is at its peak.
- As it’s a time of compassion, we recite the 13 attributes of mercy many times during this prayer. Due to the sanctity and solemnity of the prayer, we open the Ark before the beginning of the Ne’ilah and it remains open for the duration of the prayer, till the conclusion of the fast.
- The opening of the Ark at this time is very meritorious, providing a segulah for many blessings, both spiritual and material.
